The 6 Friends

I watched Friends when I was in my most depressed times. It was the best anti-depressant! I really mean it. When such things happen in my life, it is a quote by Paulo Coelho that comes to my mind, every time.

‘When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it’.⠀

It happened in this case too. I was too depressed about the then-existing circumstances. Found myself distant from good friends of mine, myself being the only reason. Tried to find solace in movies and books, but they were serving as occasional blips of happiness and no permanent solution was on the cards. Then, F.R.I.E.N.D.S happened!⠀

I was hooked up like a moth to a light. I found a company in the likes of Chandler, Phoebe, Monica, Ross, Rachel and Joey. I have never binged a series so fast in my life. Friends was like a light at the end of the tunnel of my hard times. ⠀

Now, I am out of that tunnel and whenever I am not feeling quite right, I will find either Chandler’s sarcasm or Phoebe’s weirdness or Monica’s ‘I know‘ or Ross’ dinosaur stories or Rachel’s perseverance or Joey’s unconditional love for all to be my artificial dopamine. I loved how I can relate at least one trait of mine with each of the main six characters.⠀

I laughed, I cried, I found myself back to my prime and here I am now, trying to express my thoughts via words over a cup of coffee and thinking about Paulo Coelho’s words once again. Yes, I may have watched Friends during my college days. It did not materialise, but it was all for good, because ‘No one told you life was gonna be this way.’ (In case, if you had clapped right now, yes we are amigos!)
