This is what the joy of filmmaking looks like! RRR – Behind and Beyond was such a treat to watch and witness history made.
As one of the Letterboxd reviews I saw, this documentary is all about, ‘see how we did this iconic sequence’, and the entire movie is full of such iconic sequences. The conviction SS Rajamaouli had in his vision and his team’s oneness in buying into his vision is what makes such cinema like RRR possible in the first place.
Be it SSR saying, he was working with not one but two tigers in Bheem’s intro sequence or be it the bromance of Tarak and Charan on and off the sets (Jakkannaa!), the joy of filmmaking seems more alive, captivating us audience too into their magical world of stories.
The insights behind the work done by cinematography, stunt choreography, and dance numbers are such a delight to be documented ig. Special mention should go to MM Keeravani on coming at specific intervals and humming the required bgm with an anecdote of where it came from and how we saw it in the theatre.
Do give it a watch, you won’t regret it. And yeah, the feeling to immediately go and watch RRR, <cough, first half, cough>, once this documentary ends is mutual.
